Graphical Abstract | Burke et al. conducted simultaneous recordings from the zebrafinch air sac and either (1) PAm or (2) HVC areas in the brain. Their findings revealed that transient pressure changes in the air sac elicited neural responses in HVC, a region crucial for song learning and production. Based on these results, they suggest a novel circuitry that underlies viscerosensory input into the vocal production circuit in zebrafinches.
